$CRIP TIPS |
What Is SCRIP? $CRIP is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our organization.
Current Requirements: Current requirements for the 2009/2010 school year equal $200/family in contributions. The amount required for single parent families is $100.00. If you do not wish to participate you may opt out by simply paying the $200. You may also earn a partial credit toward the $200. The earning period for accruing this amount begins June 1, 2009 and ends May 31, 2010.
Tuition Credit: Once you have made a profit of $250 through $CRIP, you begin to earn tuition credit. You may choose to apply 50% of every dollar earned over $250 toward your next year's tuition. Tuition credit is accrued annually from June 1 - May 31, and does not carry forward from year to year.
How to Participate: 1) Pick up an order form: Forms are available by clicking the link at the top of this page, and at each school building attached to the black metal $CRIP boxes. Boxes are located by the main offices in the schools. Forms and a box are also located at the Administration Building, Little Flower, on the second floor attached to the door as you enter the hallway. At the St. Pius Parish Center, a box is on the wall as you enter, and at St. Bernard's a box is in the back of the church by the office.
2) Place an order: Simply fill in the blanks on the order form, and write your check to BCS $CRIP for the total amount.
3) Drop off: Place the check and order form in any of the $CRIP boxes. The last pick-up is Monday at 3:00 if you wish to receive your order by Thursday of the same week. Be sure to fill in all required information, including a daytime phone number where you may be reached if any questions arise regarding your order.
4) Pick up: Orders may be picked up after 2:00pm on Thursday. The secretary at each building will have your envelope. If you need to make other arrangements, contact Darcie Huppert at 671-3082.
$CRIP on Demand is also available. Simply stop in or call during office hours to pick up your $CRIP.
We also have several Local Vendors from whom we purchase directly who are participating in our program. The Local Vendors are in Bold type on the first page of the order form, and are also listed on the back of the form. We thank them for their generosity and ask that you support them. If you or someone you know is interested in adding their company to the list, please have them contact Darcie Huppert.
More Information:
- Please call or email with any additional questions you may have. There are over 100 participating vendors, both local and national, willing to donate 1.5-20% to our school when we purchase their $CRIP, at no cost to us whatsoever. Please participate in this easy way to make free money for our schools!
- How $CRIP generates revenue for you: The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non‑profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Our organization buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount ‑ from two to fifteen percent or more – is our organization’s revenue.
- $CRIP is "shopping cart fundraising”: $CRIP is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip.
