Dan Shaub Golf Classic

My name is John Nielsen, Billings Central Catholic High School class of 2001.

I know many of you in the Catholic schools community know Dan Shaub. For those of you who don’t, Dan Shaub is a 1999 graduate of Billings Central, where he was a standout basketball player and even better friend to everyone he knew. He then went on to Carroll College and dental school at Creighton. After that Dan came back to Billings and started his dental practice. I played basketball with Dan at Central and went to Carroll with Dan too. We have been great friends for many years.

Recently this year Dan was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), an extremely rare but fatal disease. Dan can still walk with a walker, but has a difficult time doing so. He is basically confined to a motorized wheelchair now. Dan and his wife have two young boys and a baby girl on the way. He and his family need a commercial sized handicap accessible van with a lift at a cost of approximately $60,000. They are unable to put a lift in a minivan as Dan is 6’7’.

Seth Flohr (Class of 2000) and I are hosting a golf tournament for Dan on September 25th at Par 3 Golf Course in Billings. Start time is 1:00pm. CLICK HERE to see the tournament flyer. On the flyer, please click on the link and it will take you directly to the golf tournament website. If you can play, please register you team or yourself online. You can always register yourself and we can pair you with other people you want to play with.
